SERVICES / MONITORING

Monthly AI visibility monitoring: your mention rate and citation share, tracked

Monthly visibility monitoring runs a fixed set of buyer-intent prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Meta AI, and reports two numbers per engine: mention rate and citation share. Per-engine tracking is the point — only 11% of domains cited by ChatGPT are also cited by Perplexity (AuthorityTech).

We'll run your market's prompts live on the call.

$2,000–10,000/mo depending on scope

Who this is for

  • You've had the audit and want the roadmap executed and measured
  • You need to know when engines change who they name — before a customer tells you
  • You want one number a month that says whether this is working

What you get

Fixed prompt set, run monthly across six engines

The same buyer-intent prompts, every month, to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Meta AI — frozen so the numbers stay comparable.

Mention rate and citation share, per engine

Only 11% of domains cited by ChatGPT are also cited by Perplexity (AuthorityTech). A single blended score would hide exactly the movements that matter.

Month-over-month competitor comparison

The same prompts against the same named competitors, so you see share shifting — in either direction — while it's happening.

A prioritized fix list, delivered and executed

Monitoring here isn't a dashboard subscription. Each report ends in next month's work, and we do that work — that's what the band pays for.

Method

  1. 01

    Freeze the prompt set

We fix the prompts and the named competitors at the start of the engagement. Changing the ruler mid-measurement is how vendors manufacture progress; we don't.

  2. 02

    Run and log

Scheduled monthly runs across all six engines, every answer logged: who was named, who was cited, where you appeared.

  3. 03

    Report the numbers

One page: both metrics per engine, the competitor comparison, which prompts moved, which didn't, and why we think so. Negative results are in the report because they're in the data.

  4. 04

    Fix and repeat

The report's fix list becomes the month's work — restructuring, schema, off-site placements — then the next run measures whether it moved anything.

Both metrics are defined in one breath in the glossary: mention rate and citation share. What moves the price within the $2,000–10,000 band: prompt-set size, engines covered, and how much of each month's fix list you want executed rather than handed over.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN

First full report after one complete monthly cycle.

Trend lines you can act on emerge by month three — a full quarter is the honest minimum for judging movement.

Straight answers

How do you measure AI visibility?

We build a fixed set of buyer-intent prompts for your market, run it on a schedule across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Meta AI, and log two numbers per engine: mention rate, how often you're named, and citation share, your share of cited sources versus competitors. You see both trend monthly.

Both metrics are defined in plain language in the glossary, and the monthly report format is shown — with clearly labeled demonstration data — on the how it works page.

What are mention rate and citation share, and what's a good number?

Mention rate is how often your business is named in AI answers across your tracked prompt set. Citation share is your slice of the cited sources versus competitors. There is no universal good number — baselines vary wildly by market — so we benchmark you against named competitors on your own prompts and report the trend monthly.

What does the monthly report look like?

One page of numbers you can act on: mention rate and citation share per engine, month over month; the competitor comparison on the same prompts; which prompts moved, which didn't, and why we think so; and next month's prioritized fixes. A sample report with clearly labeled demonstration data is on the how-it-works page.

See the sample on how it works — the figures there are demonstration data and stamped as such, but the shape is exactly what clients receive.

Can I just use a tool like Profound, Peec or Otterly?

Use one if you have someone to act on what it shows. Profound, Peec and Otterly are good dashboards: they tell you where you're missing from AI answers. They don't rewrite your pages, add schema, or earn the third-party citations that move the numbers. We run the same kind of tracking, then do the work it points to.

Real prices, so you can compare: Profound starts around $82.50/mo, Peec at €89/mo, Otterly at $29/mo. If you have in-house capacity to execute, a tool plus your team is a legitimate setup — we'll say so on the call if it fits you better.
